Reading list from 2008 and the start of my 2009 list

I didn’t read as much as I would have liked in 2008, but hopefully 2009 will offer more opportunity. If anyone has suggestions for books to read next year, please leave a comment. I am always looking for new books!

Here is the list of everything I read this past year followed by the start of my reading list for 2009:

  7. The Darkest Evening of the Year - Dean Koontz
  8. Odd Hours - Dean Koontz
  9. Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency - Douglas Adams
  10. 1984 - George Orwell (at least my 4th reading…maybe 5th)
  11. The Last Temptation of Christ - Nikos Kazantzakis
  12. On The Road - Jack Kerouac
  13. The Catcher in the Rye - J.D. Salinger (3rd reading)
  14. The Lord of the Rings “Trilogy” - JRR Tolkien (I read this once per year. Not sure how many times I’ve read it though)
  15. The Appeal - John Grisham
  16. Playing for Pizza - John Grisham
  17. Catch 22 - Joseph Heller (read this in HS once before)
  18. Slaughter House V - Kurt Vonnegut
  19. Cat’s Cradle - Kurt Vonnegut
  20. A Series of Unfortunate Events (13 books) - Lemony Snicket
  21. War and Peace - Leo Tolstoy (Read this in HS also)
  22. His Dark Materials (The Golden Compass, The Subtle Knife, and The Amber Spyglass) - Philip Pullman
  23. The Dark Elf Trilogy (Homeland, Exile, and Sojourn) - R.A. Salvatore
  24. The Icewind Dale Trilogy (The Crystal Shard, Streams of Silver, The Halfling’s Gem) - R.A. Salvatore
  25. Watership Down - Richard Adams
  26. The Ghost - Robert Harris
  27. I Am America and So Can You - Stephen Colbert
  28. Dark Tower Series (7 books) - Stephen King
  29. The Stand - Stephen King

That’s a total of 55 books! It was a better year than I thought!!

And my starting list for 2009:

  1. The Chronicle’s of Narnia - C.S. Lewis (I usually read this every few years. Not sure how many times I’ve already read this series)
  2. Dragon Tears - Dean Koontz
  3. Hitchhicker’s Guide to the Galaxy - Douglas Adams (read this every few years. Probably my 7th or 8th time)
  4. Animal Farm - George Orwell (read in HS)
  5. Lord of the Rings “Trilogy” - JRR Tolkien (Again)
  6. The Hobitt - JRR Tolkien (I try to read this every year, but usually a few years in between)
  7. The Silmarillion - JRR Tolkien (I try to read this every year, but usually a few years in between)
  8. I’ll probably read a few Philip K. Dick books. I have all of them if anyone has any suggestions on good ones.
  9. Bunch more R.A. Salvatore. I have all of his books so i’ll keep going where I left off.
  10. I have a bunch of Roald Dahl books if anyone knows if they are good
  11. Twilight Series - Stephanie Meyer
  12. Harry Potter Series - J.K. Rowling (at least Half Blood Prince before the movie comes out)
